How well do front loader tumble washers perform over top loader spinners?

I have a front loader tumbler now and it doesnt make any noise at all and it jus sits there and spins haha. My old one was a top load with the cuts in it so it would like mage the clothes with the spinner thing. Is there any difference in the way they clean? which one cleans better, if theres a difference.
