My 1991 Dodge Spirit vi-berates on takeoff. How can i fix this problem?
Well it could be your u-joints, or it could also be your constant velocity joints as well. Tires will cause this problem too. But not usually on take off though. As to fixing the problem... It is easier to have a garage replace these parts as they have the tools to do it. You can however try it if you want. You will need a floor jack, jack stands, and access to many different tools. Some of the tools you may already have. Others you may not. That is why I say it is easier to let the garage handle it... Cause it isn't as easy to replace u joints as it used to be. Espically on the front wheel drive cars. But changing the u joints consists of removing the half shafts in the front end. then you must press out the u joints and press new ones in . It is a job indeed!!! If it was a rear wheel drive car it would be a ton easier. In my opnion I would take it to the garage. Then you don't have to worry about buying all those extra tools you will never use again. But in the end however that is up to you. I know I wouldn't tackle it myself.
