Should I take aspirin ? I am pregnant and have risk of Preeclampsia, but not have yet.?

I am 16 weeks pregnant. I have slight headaches of and on. also have some sweeling on hands and feet, which fluctuates like one day i am fine and the other day i find swelling on feet. On my last visit my doc told me to take Low Dose Aspirin daily but i dint take it as my mom told me that it will be harmful for the baby. now i am very much confused, as on my first pregnancy i had post natal preeclampsia. After the birth of my baby I had sever blood pressure and swelling.So please help me that what should I do, should i take aspirin or not I take plain paracetamol for headaches. i also take fefol vit capsule daily.
